We went into Cambridge this evening for a cookie party with friends. Our original plan had been to bike in, but the wet weather combined with a recent lack of rain pants on my part (they enjoyed our rental car too much and took an extended vacation) made me chicken out and recommend public transit instead. It couldn't have been smoother -- bus to Harvard Square, wait maybe a minute for the train to pull up, and on the way back we just walked into the bus terminal as the bus pulled up. Perfect! Total transit time in each direction wasn't much more than 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, Kira had the cuteness dial turned up to 11 this afternoon. She happily played in our laps, read books to herself, smiled and giggled and played silly games, tried to chat with and share her book with folks on the bus, and generally enjoyed herself.
Max finally climbed up a rope ladder in a playhouse at our friends' house that has been foiling him...well, for years, really, but he's only three so that's not saying much. He was obviously pretty nervous about it, but having accomplished it once he promptly did it again just to show that he could. Yay Max!
